vWork 1.9 (iPhone Tracking) Released

Today we’re pleased to announce vWork 1.9. This release allows you to track the current location of your iPhones. You can now see your worker’s locations on the map and find the closest worker to any unallocated job.

We have also made a number of changes to support the latest iPhone operating system, including the ability to continue tracking workers and jobs even when the app is running in the background.

If you have any questions then please don’t hesitate to contact us at help@visfleet.com. Enjoy!

How To Upgrade to Version 1.9

vWork 1.9 is available now as a free download from the iTunes App Store. If you already have an older version of vWork on your phone, simply click the “App Store” icon on your home screen, click the “Updates” button and follow the instructions. Check out our update tutorial page if you need a hand with this. If you don’t have the app yet, you can download it from the iTunes App Store on your computer or on your iPhone.

GPS Settings, Battery Life and Accuracy

By default, tracking is turned off in the iPhone application. All you need to do to start tracking is click on the settings tab in the top right corner of the application and turn “Position Tracking” to ON.  This will begin tracking your iPhone using the default settings:

  • Report location only when the app is running.
  • Report location only from 8am to 5pm on weekdays.
  • Report location using cell site information when running on battery (less accurate but longer battery life).
  • Report location using GPS when phone is plugged into an external power source. (very accurate)
  • Report location when position changes by more than 200 metres.

If you would like more information about the settings available to you, please check out our tracking tutorial page.

Please note, that adjusting these settings without reviewing the tutorial may result in reduced battery life and excess data charges.
