There is an abundance of evidence that the way you drive affects your gas consumption. Changing your driving habits could help you use gasoline more efficiently and save money.
A recent article called iPhone camera being used for traffic light testing reveals that researchers from both MIT and Princeton University are finding that fuel consumption is cut by 20% when a car slows at the proper time for traffic signals. This study was using an iPhone’s camera and GPS information to determine when to decelerate a car before a red light.
There is additional evidence that the way you drive affects your gas consumption. FuelEconomy.gov claims that “Aggressive driving (speeding, rapid acceleration and braking) wastes gas. It can lower your gas mileage by 33 percent at highway speeds and by 5 percent around town.” This site later goes on to say that with each 5 MPH you drive (over 60 MPH) you are spending an additional $0.29 per gallon for gas.
More ways to save money by saving gas:
According to money.usnews.com, you can use websites such as GasBuddy.com and GasPriceWatch.com to find gas stations nearby with the lowest prices. You can also visit a mechanic to be sure your car is running in top shape. In addition you can invest in a gas rewards card that will give you X% back for each visit to a certain gas station.
Even more ways to save money on gasoline is to make sure your car is light and aerodynamic. That means keeping heavy things out of the trunk and keeping windows rolled up. FuelEconomy.gov says that “An extra 100 pounds in your vehicle could reduce your MPG by up to 2 percent.”
How does vWorkApp play into saving money on fuel?
vWorkApp helps taxi drivers organize jobs. This means less time driving around town looking for customers, less time waiting to get a call about a new job, and less time idling with the car’s engine on. Combine this with new driving habits, and you could save a lot of money on fuel.
Taxis aren’t the only ones who would save money by changing their driving habits. Anyone spending time driving from Point A to Point B can save gas and money. This includes HVAC, truckers, food delivery services and many more.
